VAAS has a program to help small, grassroots community and faith-based nonprofit organizations by providing training, and consulting. The Small Organization Support (SOS) Project will help strengthen your organization by providing the following capacity building services:
  • Set up your nonprofit
  • Understand how to manage your money
  • Create a Board of Directors or become a strong Board leader
  • Plan for your future
  • Build or become a strong staff
  • Reach out to your community and get them involved
  • Understand what kind of computer equipment and software you need to get the job done
  • Assist you in achieving your mission!
Who can participate in this new program?
You can participate if you:
  • Are a small organization or group with an annual budget of $50,000 or less, and you...
  • Are a community based or faith based organization that offers social services to people in the community.
In addition, the program prioritizes organizations that:
  • Serve low-income communities, immigrants and/or refugees, communities of color, and rural communities, and
  • Have never received a direct federal grant

  • In-person resource center hours for face-to-face help
  • Training for SOS eligible groups
  • Consulting for already enrolled organizations
  • Technology support
Will these services cost money?
No! If you are chosen to participate in the program, all of these services are free.
