About the Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and improving the company’s audit and assurance practice; which includes providing and overseeing audit, review and compilation services. We are looking for an individual who is highly motivated and willing to embrace fresh challenges and experiences to advance their professional development. Additional requirements include: 


  • Knowledge of current audit and accounting concepts. 

  • Plan audits by understanding objectives, structure, policies, processes, and controls. 

  • Assist with engagement administration including audit programs, budgets, schedules, and engagement letters. 

  • Participate in planning meetings to help determine audit risks and develop testing plans. 

  • Perform detailed audit procedures over various income statement and balance sheet accounts. 

  • Complete audits, compilations, and reviews. 

  • Determine reliability of financial statements. 

  • Prepare and develop workpapers to support work completed during an audit or review. 

  • Assist with the preparation of financial statements, footnote disclosures and management letter comments. 

  • Maintain and apply professional skepticism to help identify and deliver proper reporting and opinions on financial statements as applicable. Document the execution of specific review and audit procedures performed. 

  • Remain current on professional pronouncements (i.e., FASB pronouncements). 

  • Continue advancing technical knowledge and working knowledge of GAAP, GAAS and other relevant professional standards. 

  • An ability to prioritize and work independently to reach clear-set goals. 

  • Use technology tools proficiently in regular assignments and demonstrate a commitment to improving work processes using technology. 

  • Maintain professional client relationships. 

  • Manage assigned workload between yourself and VAAS employees. 

  • Maintain the appropriate balance between client needs and VAAS' risk. 

  • Maintain annual CPE requirement.

Requirements

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A desire to provide mentorship and training to other professionals. 

  • Communication skills to effectively relate to people of diverse backgrounds and experience levels both verbally and in writing.

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field and CPA certification.

  • At least 3 years of relevant audit experience.
