About the Role
Job Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Perform general accounting functions in support of SLED related financial operations
Prepare and maintain general ledger entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules
Support internal and external audits involving SLED programs or government funding
Assist with preparation of financial statements, management reports, and audit documentation
Review expenditures for compliance with:
State regulations
Grant or funding requirements
Internal control policies
Track and document transactions related to public safety or law enforcement programs
Assist with budget tracking, variance analysis, and financial reporting
Respond to audit inquiries and requests for financial data
Maintain accurate, well-organized documentation in accordance with audit standards
Ensure confidentiality and proper handling of sensitive or law enforcement related financial information
Coordinate with program staff, auditors, and government stakeholders as needed
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
2–4+ years of Accounting experience, with direct SLED experience required
Demonstrated experience supporting:
State or local government accounting
Working knowledge of:
GAAP
Government accounting principles
Internal controls
Experience supporting audits (financial, compliance, or programmatic)
Strong attention to detail and documentation standards
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word
Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
