About the Role

Job Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Perform general accounting functions in support of SLED related financial operations

  • Prepare and maintain general ledger entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules

  • Support internal and external audits involving SLED programs or government funding

  • Assist with preparation of financial statements, management reports, and audit documentation

  • Review expenditures for compliance with:

    • State regulations

    • Grant or funding requirements

    • Internal control policies

  • Track and document transactions related to public safety or law enforcement programs

  • Assist with budget tracking, variance analysis, and financial reporting

  • Respond to audit inquiries and requests for financial data

  • Maintain accurate, well-organized documentation in accordance with audit standards

  • Ensure confidentiality and proper handling of sensitive or law enforcement related financial information

  • Coordinate with program staff, auditors, and government stakeholders as needed

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field

  • 2–4+ years of Accounting experience, with direct SLED experience required

  • Demonstrated experience supporting:

    • State or local government accounting

  • Working knowledge of:

    • GAAP

    • Government accounting principles

    • Internal controls

  • Experience supporting audits (financial, compliance, or programmatic)

  • Strong attention to detail and documentation standards

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word

  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
